Many lotions on the market are full of ingredients that are less than beneficial to skin. They are added to increase the volume of the product. One of the most common of these filler ingredients is mineral oil.

At your local drugstore identify at least five different lotions that does not list mineral oil as one of the first five ingredients.

Products that contain water need to be preserved, meaning preservatives are necessary. While some natural combinations of vitamins and essential oils can kill off some types of bacterias and molds that naturally develop in a water environment, none can fight off all types of rot from forming.

When you come across a skin care product which claims to contain no preservatives, yet has water in the ingredient list, investigate as to how the product refrains from going bad. Most companies list a method to contact them, we dare you to find out.
TRUTH
Alcohol will kill bacteria, but alcohol also kills all healthy functioning cells. Avoid using alcohol on skin blemishes such as pimples, or a cold sore. It will only irritate it more. Avoid alcohol based mouthwash.
DARE
Use alternatives. Use witch hazel, a natural astringent, on blemishes, breakouts and even as a regular toner. Use hydrogen peroxide to cleanse wounds and also as a mouthwash.
